Block days this week were spent (finally) finishing up Dead Poet's Society. Once finished, we went over the homework, which was reading Graham Greene's "The Destructors." To start, I showed you a power point that gave you a little background information on the Blitzkrieg, a historical event in WWII that is important to understanding the setting of Greene's story. I also played you the popular punk song "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones, which makes some interesting connections to "The Destructors." We discussed some possible connections and also discussed some of the thematic similarities that this story has with Lord of the Flies. "The Destructors" Background Power Point
